Is Magura Water Polo a club?

No - Magura Water Polo is a company that offers specialist water polo coaching and mentoring programs.

Can members of any club participate in Magura's training programs?

Yes - Magura is not affiliated with any club, which means that players from all clubs (or players new to the game) are welcome to sign up to train with Magura. Magura's goal is to provide access to top quality and experienced coaches and mentors no matter what club a player belongs to.

Can players train with Magura and still be eligible for selection for State and Australian teams?

Yes - When our winter training program commences, we will be:

  • preparing athletes vying for selection in the 2024 Paris Olympics 

  • training athletes who have been selected to represent Australia in the World Aquatics Men’s U16 Water Polo Championships 2024 in Malta

  • training athletes who have been selected to represent Australia in the World Aquatics Men’s U18 Water Polo Championships 2024 in Argentina

  • preparing athletes vying for selection in the U15 and U17 WPA National State Championships 2024

Do I have to participate in the WA Performance Program to be eligible for selection for State and Australian teams?

No - Participation in one of the WA Performance Programs is only one pathway for selection to State and Australian squads and teams. The Water Polo WA Inc State Team Selection Policy provides that any athlete can nominate through the State Team Nomination Form (and participation in a WA Performance Program is only one way athletes may nominate for selection). Note that all athletes are required to be a member of a club affiliated with Water Polo WA Inc to be eligible for State squad selection, but as noted above, athletes training with Magura can be a member of any club.
